Obituary
MADISON - Darcy J. Hall, a lifelong resident of Madison’s East Side and the woman everyone knew as their favorite neighbor, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026. Born on May 20, 1944, to Jerome and Antoinette Schwoegler, Darcy was the third of five children. She famously entered the world just ten minutes after her twin brother, David, beginning a life defined by connection and family.
A proud 1963 graduate of Madison East High School, it was during her school years that she met the love of her life, Michael Hall. Following Michael’s honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force, the two were wed in 1968. Together, they built a life on the East Side, raising two daughters in a home defined by Darcy’s nurturing spirit.
Darcy was the quintessential caregiver. Beyond her own family, she influenced the lives of countless young families through her supportive and loving childcare. She was the neighbor who always had a friendly ear, an open door, and a watchful eye for those around her. Her community involvement was deep-rooted; she served as a volunteer Girl Scout leader and spent years cultivating her garden.
Family memories were anchored by annual camping vacations and Darcy’s love for staying busy. Whether she was working on a craft project, solving a puzzle, or tending to her home, her hands were rarely still.
Darcy was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Antoinette; beloved husband, Michael; nephew, Ron Onken; and niece, Theresa Bernstein. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her daughters, Jenny Baker of Stamford, CT and Laura (David) Johnson of Marshall, WI. She was the cherished grandmother of Brandi (Ben) Nagel, DJ (Amanda) Johnson and Nathaniel Johnson. Her light shines on through her five great-grandchildren, who will forever remember her affectionately as "GiGi." She is further survived by her siblings, Nancy (Warren) Onken, Sharon (Jim) Schroeder, David (Antoinette) Schwoegler and Steve Schwoegler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at CATHEDRAL OF ST. BERNARD PARISH CENTER, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026, with Father Michael Radowicz presiding.
