OREGON - Richard Edward Yaun, age 85, of Oregon, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026. He was born on August 8, 1940, in Monroe and the only child of Lillian (Beightol) Yaun.

Richard attended and graduated from Juda High School in 1958. He was an avid athlete and participated in many sports, but basketball was his first love. After graduation, he had various jobs and was in the Wisconsin National Guard for four years. He was united in marriage to Sharon Yaun in 1963. They had two children, Carmen and Nick. Richard sold insurance and managed and remodeled rental properties for several years. He then took a full-time job at general motor automotive production where he retired after many years of service. During his time at GM, he worked at the Janesville site and moved to the Fort Wayne, Ind. site for several years. Family brought him back to Wisconsin. In retirement, he worked for Stoughton Trailers, a home building contractor, and at the UW Hospital in the building maintenance department, until he truly moved into full retirement.

Richard was an avid gardener, taking great pride in this hobby sharing his yields with friends and family. He loved to build and do woodworking projects. He was a perfectionist and his creations showed that. He was a huge sports fan. He loved to watch his kids and grandkids’ events attending as many as he could, even braving the rain and cold of soccer games!

Richard was loved for his humor and easy personality. There were many wonderful times of laughter and love in his presence. He had the little sparkle in his eye and smirk that wonderfully showed his personality.

Best descriptors of Richard: Hard working, immensely funny, loving, humble, a BIT of a perfectionist, expert in construction and woodworking, an over achiever at organization, committed to family, sports lover, cowboy movie expert, unafraid of any task and loved to share his ideas.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Carmen (Jeff) Jahn; son, Nick (Carol Daubs) Yaun; four granddaughters, Kali (Masees) Mesdjian, Kara Jahn, Kelsey (Alex) Marro and Morgan Yaun; grandson, Justin (Leslie Cano Payan) Yaun; and three great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Greyson and Lillian. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Yaun; daughter, Kim Yaun; and brother-in-law, Ronald Rood.

A graveside service will take place at EAST WIOTA CEMETERY, 10311 South 78, South Wayne, Wis., at 11 a.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2026. A catered reception/visitation will follow at VILLAGE INN, 207 State Road 11, South Wayne, from 12 noon until 3 p.m.
