Obituary

BROOKLYN / STOUGHTON - David W. Pernot passed away on January 21, 2026. He was born on October 10, 1940, in Stoughton, Wis., to Davis and Elvera (Klitzke) Pernot.


David graduated from Brooklyn High School and then enlisted in the United State Marine Corps. While in the service, he married and had three children, Nancy, Randy and Ronnie. After his honorable discharge, David worked at Uniroyal in Stoughton and later joined the Stoughton Police Department, where he served with dedication and retired as a Lieutenant.


David spent his winters in Park Falls and purchased a beautiful place in Buyck, Minn., where he loved to fish from May through September. On May 21, 2018, David was proud to take part in the Badger Honor Flight, accompanied by Green Bay Packer, Gilbert Brown.


David is survived by his children, Nancy (Jason) Lapp and Ronnie Pernot; granddaughter, Ashley Briggs; and great-granddaughter, Fiona Johnson. He is also survived by sisters, Mardelle Behnke and Bette (Dan) Kull; brother, Dean (Shirley) Pernot; sisters-in-law, Dolly Pernot and Audrey Pernot; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy; grandson, Danny Briggs; brothers, Keith, Darus, Lyman, Phillip, Donald and Dale; sister, Diane Kjellstrom; and brother-in-law, Richard Behnke.


Per David’s request, a private family visitation will be held at Gunderson Oregon Funeral and Cremation Care. A celebration of life will follow the burial at the ANCHOR CLUB, 112 Hotel St., beginning around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

David and my parents, Pete and Riley Jacobson, along with Bunny Smith, had many good times together. They went fishing in the boundary waters in Minnesota. I hope they are enjoying each others company by a lake in heaven now.
