MADISON - Michelle Renee Williams Boice, age 58, of Madison, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026. She was born on March 13, 1967, in Juneau, Alaska, to Renee Geraldine “Geri” Williams. In 1972, she was adopted by Larry and Patricia Boice.
Michelle graduated from Courtland High School in Spotsylvania County, Va. She attended Madison Area Technical College in Madison, Wis. Michelle was united in marriage to Michael Walton, a moment that was so important to her. She worked as an office administrator for the State of Wisconsin for many years, retiring in 2009.
Michelle was an active and vibrant member of her community. She shared and celebrated her heritage and culture through dance, engagement and activism. She was a member of the Tlingit and Haida Dancers in Anchorage, Alaska. She shared her commitment to her East Madison Community in many roles over 20 years of service at the East Madison Community Center, serving on the board and Girls’ Group leader.
Wherever she lived, Michelle became known as the beloved “Neighborhood Block Mom,” a title she embraced with joy. Children and teens knew they could count on her for encouragement, guidance, and a listening ear. She had an extraordinary gift for seeing the good in people and celebrating it fully. Michelle expressed her creativity through crafting, sewing and making fleece tie blankets. She was an avid Walmart shopper. Above all else, Michelle centered her life around family-her greatest source of pride and love.
Michelle is survived by her husband, Michael; daughters, Tijanna R. (Derek) Boice-Espidio and Cheyenne I. Boice-Roque; sisters, Arletha L.W. Guyer and Saietta Bruce; grandchildren, Cameron, Reneeja, Catalina, Tynlee, Terek, E'laine, Demetrius, Brenda, Rose, Dejanae, Cashes, S'reyah, Z'mari, Derek and Devonta; niece, Rachel Guyer; nephew, Jacob Guyer; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Larry L. and Patricia R. Boice.
