Bill graduated from Oregon High School in Illinois in 1972 and went on to study at the University of Illinois, achieving a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in agricultural economics. He furthered his education obtaining a Juris Doctorate from Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Ill.

He also engaged in data analysis and business consulting.

Bill was passionate about motorcycles, live music, riding bicycles and photography. He lived life to the fullest, enjoying family and friends.

He was a devout Catholic, and with his customary gusto, he threw himself into the church by volunteering his services. He became a Knight of Columbus, later serving a term as Grand Knight. He was focused on bringing members into the fold.

Bill was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Catherine Holland. He is survived by his former wife and special friend, Victoria Holland; and by his siblings, Elizabeth (Gary Hollinger) Pontnack, Randy (Sheila) Holland, Mary (Neal) Patterson, Joseph (Julie) Holland and Laura (Mike) Davenport. He had a plethora of nephews and nieces spanning several generations.

Bill embodied his belief in love, kindness, grace and mercy. He exemplified these tenets in the business community, in his faith and with all the people he loved.

He inspired and mentored many to achieve goals both professionally and personally. He truly was an inspirational individual who will be greatly missed.

My husband, Rex Dachenbach, was a fellow Knight at HMC. When Rex passed 2 years ago, Bill was one of the first to contact me and continued to check on me with his gracious smile through the years. I am sure Rex was at the door of heaven saying, welcome home, brother Knight.

I had so much admiration for Bill, both as a professional and as a person. He was a truly kind man with strong beliefs and such a unique life story. I will always be thankful to Bill and Peter Thum for giving me the chance to come to the US, start my a new chapter of my career. God bless his soul. He was a good man and I’ll always remember him in the best way.
