Obituary
STOUGHTON - Daniel “Boon” Gordon Coleman, age 58, of Stoughton, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026, at home. He was born on April 1, 1967, in Stoughton, the son of Eugene "Louie" and Karen (Grady) Coleman.
Boon graduated from Stoughton High School in 1985. He then went on to earn both an undergraduate from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Hockey was a lifelong passion-he played in high school and well into adulthood and later passed on his love for the sport through coaching. He was also a pioneer in his field of social work, becoming the first person to bring social workers into schools across Dane County.
Boon’s heart was as big as his impact. He was previously married to Kelly Christensen, together they had three loving children, Alexis, Calissa, and Braeden. Over the course of his life, they welcomed 17 foster children into their home, offering each one stability, compassion and a place to belong. He never hesitated to say, “I love you,” and his children were the center of his world. Outside of work and family, he found joy and freedom riding motorcycles with his friends.
Boon will be dearly missed by his daughter, Calissa Jo (Taylor) Kruckenberg; son, Braeden Coleman; grandson, Baker Kruckenberg; brother, Randy (Emalee) Coleman; sister, Jackie (Sean) Dyer; and nieces Gianna Dyer, Erica Wiley, Kristin Onsrud, and Rene Lynch. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Alexis Coleman.
Boon believed deeply in helping others and would encourage everyone to consider becoming an organ donor.
A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. @ Jackson St., Stoughton, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026. A celebration of Boon’s life will also be held at a later date.
Memorials may be gifted in Boon’s name to the UW transplant team or to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
