Shelby Jean Guerin

MADISON - Shelby Jean Guerin, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. She was born on October 8, 1938, in Weston, Wis., the daughter of Leonard and Beatrice (Pepper) Dorst.

Shelby graduated from Central High School in 1957 and attended Madison Beauty School after high school.  She was united in marriage to Robert Guerin on August 31, 1957, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Madison.

Shelby was a longtime member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She lived her faith as a dedicated volunteer in the parish, making prayer shawls, helping in the office and school, and decorating the church for the seasons. She also shared her time as a Meals on Wheels volunteer.

Shelby found joy in gardening and creating floral arrangements. She especially enjoyed bird watching and feeding the birds at her homes. She cherished time with her family, friends, and especially her grandkids. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Robert, in their retirement years and spending time together in their homes in Madison, Wis., Marion, Wis., and in Green Valley, Ariz.

Shelby is survived by her children, Lance (Diana) Guerin, Lori (Brian) Witt, Brian (Cori) Guerin and Jason (Sheila) Guerin; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Edith Zepplin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents; and three brothers.

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, with Father Matthew Pearson presiding. Entombment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. A celebration of life will be held at Buck & Honey’s, 800 W. Broadway, Monona, Wis., following the burial service.
