Susan Wellman

We are deeply sorry for your loss ~ Gunderson Funeral Home - Madison

Ms. Wellman was my 5th grade teacher at Elm Lawn Elementary. She was kind, caring, and stern when she needed to be. She sure knew how to run a classroom. I am now 30 years old and still feels like yesterday she was preparing us for the world. My thoughts are with both her and her family. I know she impacted thousands of kids and helped so many of us succeed in our academic, professional, and personal lives.

I taught with Susan for many years. She had so much to give to her students. As a colleague, she was always ready to help out when she could. She was so open to learning new things. I loved having her join classes in learning to make Ukrainian Easter eggs. She gave so generously to my relatives in Ukraine when Ukraine entered into a war. She made the world a better place by traveling the world and meeting new people. So glad to have known her.

I spotted a sensitivity and generosity in Sue. My best memory of her besides teaching , educating my 3 kids, and being on task with life was an accidental meeting at her new house. We chatted about our travels, ongoing healthy , and silliness in life. She had an infectious smile, and laughter which I will always treasure!
