Obituary
MADISON - David Matthew Armour, age 84, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on October 18, 1941, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Eugene Armour and Minnie (Olson) Armour.
David graduated from Gilbert Lane Technical School in 1960 and DeVry Technical Institute in 1963 with an associate degree in Applied Science-Electronic Technology. He met his wife, Karen Rauch Grob, on a blind date and they were united in marriage in 1970 in Madison. The following year, David adopted Karen's three sons, James, Edward and William. He was so proud to be their father.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1967. He was in Vietnam. He served as an aircraft mechanic and in the Philippines as a member of the security force. Following his service in the Air Force, David worked as a quality control engineer for Rayovac Battery Company for 31 years, retiring in 2002. In his retirement he worked part-time at Metcalfe’s Market.
David was a Ham Radio Operator and a member of the planetary society. He was very interested in outer space and life beyond the earth. He loved to travel and visited many places in the U.S. and Canada. His favorite place close by was Door County.
David is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, James (Cindy) Armour, Edward (Elke) Armour and William (Holly) Armour; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Armour and Minnie Armour; and grandson, Keith Armour.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, with Father Jay Poster presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Tuesday.
