MADISON - Paul Marvin Blumberg, age 90, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, in Madison, Wis. He was born on March 15, 1935, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of Irving and Ruth (Shier) Blumberg.
Paul was united in marriage to Diane Bjorklund on October 7, 1988. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley and worked as a professor of sociology, at Queens College, New York, retiring in 2000. He was also the author of three books and many articles. In his free time, he enjoyed photography.
Paul is survived by his wife, Diane Bjorklund; son, Ira (Kendra) Blumberg; two stepsons, David (Martha) Shorter and Thomas (Stacey) Shorter; grandson, Zack Blumberg; five step grandchildren, Allison, Courtney, Lauren, Steven, and David Shorter; and brother, Bob (Ginny) Blumberg. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irving Blumberg and Ruth (Shier) Blumberg.
