Obituary

MCFARLAND - David L. Dell, age 76, of McFarland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 25, 2025. He was born on August 19, 1949, in Stoughton, Wis., the son of Dallas Dell and May (Myrland) Dell.

David graduated from Stoughton High School in 1968. David worked as a splicer for GTE (Verizon) for 35 years. After retiring from Verizon in 2011, he went on to work for a few years at Northwest Cable Construction Company.

David was the epitome of a great outdoorsman. He enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, camping, ATVing and snowmobiling in northern Wisconsin. He was an active member of the Waubesa Snowbird snowmobile club and the Monroe Prairie ATV/UTV club. He was a race car enthusiast and driver, spending much time at Columbus 151 as a racer and actively helped maintain the track. If he wasn’t racing his cars, he would enjoy spectating races. He valued being a supportive member of his community and was proud of his work as a volunteer firefighter in McFarland. In recent years, he and Mary would spend time in Big Flats, Wis., with their dog, Abby.

David is survived by his son, Jason (Kaleigh Reagan) Dell; longtime partner, Mary Zitka; Mary's daughter, Tina (Andy) O'Connor; Mary's son, Kevin Zitka; grandson, Liam (Faithe) Dell; grandchildren, Levi O'Connor and Maysa O'Connor; great-grandchild, Azriel Dell; sister, Jean Ann (Jerry) Gunsolus; three nieces and four nephews, including special nephew, Mike Gunsolus. My condolences go out to my sweet Mary and family I am Dawn Hanson/Bear that’s been a neighbor to Dave and Mary for 28 years. Dave had a very kind heart helped me every time I needed his help whether it was a big job small job or waving to me from across the street or giving me the finger…lol. Went out to dinner with them Friday night fish fry road in his white shiny truck with old country music playing on the radio.💓 Always outside making his lawn perfect, washing and waxing his beautiful white truck. I used to yell across the street saying you’re gonna wash the paint right off that truck or you’re going to wax the paint right off that truck…he just give me the finger! I will sure miss you, Dave. You will always have a special part of my heart. ❤️ Love always Dawn
