Daniel F Roemer

OREGON / CEDARBURG - Dan Roemer, age 55, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Dan was born on September 4, 1970, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to James and Bonnie Roemer. He grew up in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, where he became a standout athlete; through sports, he also developed deep long-lasting relationships.

Dan’s true passion was playing hockey and later coaching youth hockey. He had a touch communicating with young players and especially enjoyed watching his son grow into a phenomenal hockey player. Dan’s famous motivational speech was, “Half ass is better than no ass.” His players still use this quote today.

Dan developed a love for mechanics and electronics early on. When Dan was 15 years old, he built a massive set of speakers from scratch. Those 300-pound speakers are still in his parent’s basement today. He also built a sound system for his Buick that could be heard for miles. Most were irritated by the obnoxious, booming sounds coming from his old Buick, however, a beautiful young lady in his high school class, Lynn Jankowski, was intrigued by this mating call.

After luring Lynn in with his symphonic vibrations, Dan later invited Lynn to go swimming at the pool at his parent’s house with friends where they played king of the raft. The next day he invited her to go see the fireworks, their first official date.

In college, Dan became a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, where he met many of his lifelong friends and made many wild, but lasting memories. Eventually, Dan buckled down and discovered electrical engineering and the study of acoustics. He combined these newly acquired skills with his love for designing speakers. In 1994, he graduated with a degree in Electrical Acoustic Engineering and Computer Science from UW Madison.

After graduating he went on to marry his high school sweetheart and love of his life on April Fool’s Day, 1995. The wedding embodied the spirit of their fun-loving relationship, and everyone partied in the usual UW Madison spirit. One of his first jobs out of college involved traveling to China where he developed many friendships and professional relationships that would last a lifetime.

In 2000, the family began to expand with the birth of Dan and Lynn’s two daughters, Emma and Grace. Four years later they welcomed their son, Joe, in 2004. “He was the dad that had the answer to everything, whether it was sports, school, or just life. He was so levelheaded and always supported my siblings and I in every single endeavor of ours”, remembers Emma. “Dad had an impossibly kind heart that taught me the power of kindness. He could simplify life and soften even the darkest moments with humor, while still carrying a depth that made our connection beautiful. His light will stay with me forever,” remembers Grace.  “He was a dedicated coach and even more a dedicated father. He took everything extremely emotionally and analytically. He was a much deeper person than he showed on the surface,” remembers Joe.

In 2017, the natural progression of his career led Dan to create his own company, Perlisten, where he developed HiFi speakers. Perlisten speakers became world renowned for their technical advancement and superior engineering. Dan’s company reflected him. It was built on partnership, friendship, and delivering a superior listening experience. His legacy will live on through his partners and friends at Perlisten.

Over the last couple of years his love of traveling extended from Hazelhurst, Wis. to Europe and beyond, always about the company and not the destination. Dan learned to strike the perfect balance in life through family, friendship, and work throughout his life. He was able to enjoy more time golfing with friends and particularly with his dad and son. Dan had a fierce unconditional love for the people in his circle which only grew stronger.

After being diagnosed with cancer at 53 years old, Dan had a profound transformation. Alongside all the treatments, he embarked on a spiritual journey focusing on healing both his mind and body. He had many hands helping him immensely through this experience. Dan was completely transformed after diagnosis; as his body grew weaker his spirit only grew stronger. His favorite tagline throughout his journey, “Be more wave less particle”, (a tribute to the quantum mechanics behind his spiritual journey).

Dan is survived by his wife, Lynn; children, Emma, Grace, and Joe; his parents, James and Bonnie; his sister, Dawn (Matt) Meier; niece and nephew, Isabella and Hayden; the Bialzik, Morris, and Jankowski families; and many cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Friday January 2, 2026. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Friday.
