Obituary
OREGON - John Robert Rottier, age 79, of Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at his home. He was born on March 22, 1946, in De Pere, Wis., the son of William and Mary (Turriff) Rottier.
John graduated from West De Pere High School in 1964 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from UW. On October 10, 1970, he married Susan Petterson Rottier in Madison, Wis. Prior to retirement, John worked as a controller for Universal Silencer. He truly enjoyed being a CPA. In his free time, he enjoyed golf and playing cards, especially Sheepshead, euchre and cribbage. He also loved to travel and always looked forward to attending Badgers football games. John was a long-time member of the Madison Downtown Optimist Club and served as their treasurer for 24 years.
John is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Sara (Shane) McCarthy; sister, Mary Ellen Smith; brother, Greg (Joyce) Rottier; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ben Rottier and Dave Rottier; and sister, Lois Burns.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026. Burial will take place at Prairie Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
