Mark J Johnson

STOUGHTON - Mark James Johnson, age 64, of Stoughton, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Meriter Hospital. He was born on December 18, 1961, in Madison, the son of Ernest and Shirley (Dushack) Johnson.

Mark graduated from Madison East High School in 1980. He worked as the lead custodian for UW-Madison System, for 35 years. Mark had a love for watching and reading science fiction and Stephen King, hunting and fishing, and playing horseshoes and pool. He was a diehard fan of the Detroit Lions.

Mark is survived by his life partner of many years, Lynn Sawall; brother, Ernest “Butch” Johnson; nieces, Kayla Faust and Kristen (Antoine) Dukes and their children, Marianna Faust, Eloise and Ezriel Dukes; aunts, Betty (Joe) Gervasi, JoAnn Dushack, Ruthann Frank, Linda Gladem and Donna (Dan) Wells; uncles, Richard (Dorothy) Dushack and James Dushack; and many cousins and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Ernest and Viola Johnson; maternal grandparents, Glen and Edith Dushack; sister-in-law, Mary Johnson; aunts and uncles, Marge (Ed) Skolaski, Beverly (Chuck) Porter, Diane (Jerry) McIntyre, Lynda (Darrell) Hollis, Gary (Janet) Dushack, Dennis (Linda, Agnes) Dushack, Monsignor Douglas Dushack, David Dushack, Judy (Russell) Volkman, Brenda Dushack, Orville Frank and David Gladem; and cousins, Betty Crawford, Amanda Dushack and Jessica Werner.

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon on Friday, January 2, 2026. Burial will take place at Town of Dunn Burying Ground.
