Obituary

STOUGHTON / NEENAH - Iva Mae Tummett, age 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Stoughton Hospital.

Iva Mae was born on October 26, 1943, in Neenah, WI. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Alvina (Blair) Hartzheim. She was the youngest of 10 siblings and so loved being part of the lively, close-knit, Hartzheim family. Iva married the love of her life, Thomas Tummett, on April 11, 1964, in Neenah, WI, and together they built a beautiful life there. They raised three children, Carl, Renee, and Bill and helped care for her four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Iva had a signature saying: “life is good,” and she truly found so much joy in life’s simple things. She loved family gatherings and visits with neighbors and friends. She was the master of word games. Crosswords, Words with Friends, and Wheel of Fortune Puzzles were her favorite. Along with Tom, Iva Mae was the ultimate DIY-er. Together the two of them always had a project. She loved creating decorations for the holidays, redoing rooms around her house, and cared for a beautiful yard full of flowers and large gardens. Watching the sunset each night from their outdoor porch was a constant source of joy for her.

In recent years Iva moved to Stoughton, WI, to be closer to family. Her great-grandchildren were the light of these years for her. She loved visiting with them and attending their events, always taking so many photos!

Iva was preceded in death by her siblings: Sophie (Earl) Austin, Hazel (Art) Missall, Alvina (Roland) Piette, Sylvester (Bethel) Hartzheim, Howard Hartzheim, Ronald (Barb) Hartzheim, Theodora Kosiorek, Edward (Barb) Hartzheim, and Noreen (Eugene) Vanden Heuvel.

She is survived by her husband: Thomas; in-laws: Wally Kosiorek and Delores Hartzheim; her children: Carl (Brenda Taylor) Tummett, Renee (Thomas) Matson, and William (Jessica Kerry) Tummett; her grandchildren: Brittany (Jacob) Rusch, Aaron (Jenny) Frey, Veronica (Dan Boettcher) Tummett, and Ryder Tummett; and her great-grandchildren: Griffin Rusch, Lucille Rusch, Eleanor Rusch and Ruby Frey; as well as many nieces and nephews who were so special to her.

A celebration of life will be held at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5202 Cottage Grove Road, Madison, WI 53716, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Visitation will precede the celebration at 10 a.m.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Stoughton Hospital ICU Staff for their constant compassion and care, especially that of Marissa, Patti, Christy, Clint (respiratory care), and Scott (ER).  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given in honor of Iva Mae to the Stoughton Hospital Foundation.
