Obituary
OREGON - Richard E. Feran, age 68, of Oregon, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. He was born on May 1, 1957, in Hannibal, Missouri, the son of Edward and Barbara (Moores) Feran.
Richard graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1975. Richard served in the U.S. Air Force in Loring Air Force Base from 1975-1979. He was in Strategic Air Command (SAC). He volunteered as a chaplain for the military honor guard. Richard served as a referee for high-school football and basketball and was a bus driver for the Waunakee School District. On weekends, he drove tour buses. He was an avid deer hunter and a proud member of Blackhawk Church. Richard was known as a jokester and prankster among his family and friends, always quick to share a laugh. He loved conversation. Richard was generous with his time, often placing the needs of others before his own.
Richard is survived by his wife and three children; brothers, Ken (Barb) and Chuck (Barb); sister, Deb (Scott) Wollin; good friends, Mary Butz, and her sons, Daniel (Christi), William (Delana) and Alexander (Cynthia) and their children; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Ready; and Richard’s good friend and dear mentor; Daniel Butz Sr.
A celebration of life will be held at American Legion NO. 59, 803 N. Page St., Stoughton, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, with military honors at 2 p.m.
