I have had the wonderful and cherished opportunity to have all four of my sons taught by Jan. She was an amazing teacher and an even more amazing human being. She taught with integrity, compassion, and tremendous skill. She played NO favorites and looked for any opportunity to teach methods that reached every single child entrusted to her care. She taught kindness and much needed critical thinking. Every student that left her class is a better person because of her care. She was a tremendous advocate of the Arts. I willl miss my visits to her back yard and our hugs at every social event we attended together. I will miss her sense of humor and her interest in my boys future endeavors. She was my friend and I will miss her dearly. Thank you Jan for a life well lived. To your family: I thank you for lending us your mother. All me love, Barbie Anich

Jan was my kindergarten teacher but my connection with her when I owned the coffee shop in Washburn was where we got to know each other. I enjoyed visiting with her and stopping by her house. She was a very nice lady and will be missed. Pam

I am truly very saddened to learn of Janice’s passing. It was always a good conversation and a delight to spend time with her. And she was so sweet when my Mother went into the nursing home. She took her cook books to remember her by and I thought that was wonderful. She really rose above all the hard things in her life. I have missed her around Washburn in the last few years. May all your memories of her bring you blessings now.
