Obituary
OREGON - Megan Marie O'Brien, age 40, of Oregon, passed away from end stage liver disease on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at her home in Oregon with family by her side. She was born on August 3, 1985, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, the daughter of Kenneth and Jeanne (Klosterman) O'Brien.
Megan graduated from Oregon High School in 2003. She was employed at various places over the years: Dean SSM business office, Valentine’s, Pasqual’s and New Perspective Senior Living.
Megan found joy in life’s simple pleasures-swimming, swinging, camping, and listening to music. She loved getting creative with Legos, play dough, and slime, always bringing a playful energy to those around her. With a sharp sense of humor, Megan delighted in the funny side of life, often laughing when she or someone else got into a bit of mischief. She had a knack for sparking reactions and drawing smiles, making every moment more lively.
Family was at the heart of who she was, especially her close bond with her nieces and siblings. Megan’s presence left a lasting impact on everyone she met, pulling her family together with love and laughter. She had her favorites-bacon and Cheetos-and her vibrant spirit made ordinary moments unforgettable.
Megan is survived by her parents, Kenneth and Jeanne; siblings, Nicole “Nikki” (Dustin) Sponem and Colin O’Brien (Hannah Waldman); paternal grandparents, Wayne and Peg Culpitt; nieces, Quinn Sponem, Brooklyn Sponem, Harper Sponem, Winnie O’Brien and Eliza Dettman.
