Obituary

Monona - Marjorie Ann Townsend, age 91, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, in Monona, Wisconsin.


She was born on February 9, 1934, in Rockford, Illinois, to Harold and Violet Fosler. Marjorie grew up in the Durand, IL area and graduated from Durand High School in 1952.


In 1953, Marjorie married Stuart Weerda. Together they shared many years of marriage until Stuart’s passing in 1975. Marjorie enjoyed gardening, traveling, and playing cards with friends.


She is survived by her three children: Jill (Jack) Gadow of Fort Wayne, IN, Mark (Lisa Manion) Weerda of Fitchburg, WI, and Scott (Renee) Weerda of Milton, WI; four grandchildren: Josh Gadow, Jeremy Gadow, Courtney Weerda, and Taylor Weerda; and three great-grandchildren, who brought her immense happiness and pride.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Weerda, and her parents, Harold and Violet Fosler.


Funeral Service will be held at Gunderson Fitchburg Funeral & Cremation Care, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at 11:30 am on Saturday December 20, 2025, with  Rev. Scott Marrese-Wheeler presiding.  Private burial will be at Durand Cemetery, Durand, IL. Visitation will be held at funeral home from 10:00 am until 11:30 am on Saturday,
 

The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Senior Living in Monona and Brighton Hospice for the care they provided Marjorie.
