Obituary

MCFARLAND - Jeffrey Harlow Hermanson, age 64, of McFarland, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, after a brief but courageous battle with lung cancer. Jeff was born on May 27, 1961, in Madison, the proud son of Jerry and Karen (Weston) Hermanson.

Jeff was truly a jack of all trades. If you gave him a project and a set of tools, he would get it done. He spent time as an independent contractor and eventually became a foreman for the crew he worked with. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and would show up for anyone in a time of need. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing for bluegills on area lakes and blessing his family and friends with delicious fish fries. He was deeply involved in the recovery community in Madison and passed away a sober man. Through his recovery, he became a lifelong friend and mentor to many, and he also became a father figure to someone God knew needed him.

In 2019, Jeff reached out to the family his sister had lived with in Brazil as a foreign exchange student. Through social media, he connected with and grew close to the woman who became the love of his life, Rosanira "Rosie" Machado. In 2022, they were married and began a beautiful life together. They spent many weekends exploring Wisconsin and made multiple trips to Brazil, creating cherished memories along the way.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Rosie; stepsons, Dirlei and Diego; mother-in-law, Beatriz; sisters-in-law, Rosangela (daughter Nicole) and Rosania (children Ravena and Renan); brothers-in-law, Jair (children Isadora and Francisco) and Jomar, all of Brazil; father, Jerry (Tammy); brother, Tim (Kristi and children, Jared and Savannah), all of Madison; brother, Dan (Stephanie and daughter, Danielle) of Roy, Utah; brother, Mark of McFarland; and niece, Camille of Phoenix, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his mother, Karen; sister, Cheryl; grandparents, Harlow and Lenice Hermanson and John and Lillian Weston; and father-in-law, Jair Machado.

A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025.

Jeff will be deeply missed. He had a radiant smile and brought positive energy into every room he entered. He was a loving man, and he is now an angel watching over his dear friends and family.
