STOUGHTON - Joan May “Joann” Roneid, age 91, of Stoughton, died Monday, December 1, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 12, 1934, to Albert A. and Mamie (Baerwolf) Gillis. Joann married Arnold S. Roneid on September 6, 1952, in Stoughton. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Stoughton.
Joann was a loving and devoted mother. She was an avid traveler, spending years traveling throughout the United States as well as aboard. Joann enjoyed going to garage sales, searching for treasurers. She took joy as part of the quilters group at church. Joann adored her pets, including dogs, cats and birds. She was always taking in strays.
Joann is survived by her children, Gloria (Larry Friedland) Schur, Pat (Steve) Baillies, Marsha (Kevin) Maerz and Randy (Kari) Roneid; grandchildren, Logan (Sheri) Gasser, Nathan (Dana)
Gasser, Ross Roneid, Renee (John Evans) Roneid and Kyle Friedland; great-grandchildren, Julian Gasser, and Kennedy, Brayden and Charlotte Gasser; siblings, Marjorie Gillis, Fannie Kvalhiem, Frances (Larry) Matuszeske, Barbara Gillis and Charles (Kathy) Gillis; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; step-grandchildren, Derek, Kyle and Brittany Maerz; and step-great-grandchildren, Lily, Nicholas, Charlotte, Hunter and Hadley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold; brothers, Richard, Albert, and Frankie; brothers-in-law, Keith Kvalhiem, Stanley Roneid, Alvin Ramsden and Dick Havey; and sisters-in-law, Anna Roneid, Shirley Ramsden and Marion Havey.
A funeral service will be held at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 700 County Highway B, Stoughton, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dane County Special Olympics.
