Obituary
MADISON - Gail Claire (Sholts) Sabean, age 85, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at her home. She was born on October 21, 1940, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Aubrey James and Bernice Mae (Arneson) Sholts. Gail graduated from Madison East High School in 1958 and attended UW-Madison. Prior to her retirement in 2005, she worked as a bookkeeper for the First National Bank, Famous Footwear and St. Bernard’s Church.
On April 29, 1961, Gail married Charles LeRoy Sabean in Madison. For over 50 years she was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha, a philanthropic sorority, serving as treasurer and state president along the way. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, singing in the church choir, following the Badgers sports teams and the Green Bay Packers, and traveling to destinations like Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Finland.
Gail is survived by her husband, Charles; son, Jeffrey; brother, Clark (Noreen) Sholts; sister, Lynn Najem; nephew, Doug (Pearl); niece, Karen (Rick); sister-in-law, Frances Kirkpatrick; niece, Kathy Jacobus; five grand-nieces and nephews; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, George and Viola Sabean; and her grandparents.
A funeral service will be held at LAKEVIEW LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4001 Mandrake Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2005, officiated by Pastor Darin Wiebe. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park.
