Obituary
COTTAGE GROVE - Ramona D. Winger died peacefully and unexpectedly on November 19, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born August 5, 1934, to Orvin Lewis and Ivy Burk Lewis in Kansas City, MO. She is survived by two daughters, Lisa (David) Cohen and Becky Tarver; sister, Sharon Flanagan; many beloved friends and family members; and her special kitty, Nellie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Winger.
Ramona valued education and loved reading and learning new things. She graduated from William Jewell College with a double major in French and Musical Performance and received her master’s in educational administration from UW-Milwaukee. After teaching for many years at Gateway Technical College in Racine, WI, she worked as a financial advisor and also volunteered as a tutor in Naples, FL. She joined a book club in recent years and could often be found at the public library, checking out several books at a time and returning several others.
Ramona’s faith was strong, and most recently she was a church deacon and sang in the choir at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church in Cottage Grove, WI. Previously she was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Naples, where she played piano and organ, sang in the choir, and performed with the handbell choir. Ramona was also able to travel extensively during her lifetime, taking memorable vacations in Europe, Hawaii, and Alaska, and special trips to visit friends and family in Norway and Mexico. She was an active person and diligent about maintaining her health, and she suffered no illness before she died.
A memorial service will be held BRYN MAWR PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 229 N. Main St., Cottage Grove, WI, on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., with a service at 11 a.m., followed by light refreshments.
