Obituary

Timothy 4:7

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Daniel Vincent “Dan” Tardie, 57, of Madison, WI, on November 14, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.  Dan was born June 7, 1968, in Brockton, MA, to Paul Tardie and Janet Hickey. He was the oldest of five siblings.

Dan grew up in Brockton for 12 years until the family relocated to Riverside, CA. In California he found a passion for water polo excelling in high school, which earned him a scholarship to Fresno State. After college he met Kathryn “Katie” Bloomquist on February 1, 1996, and have been together ever since, marrying October 5, 2003 (fuv).

Dan found success in sales and management roles in various industries but primarily healthcare, earning awards year after year. He even has a training award named after him that honors professionalism, thoughtfulness, and examples he set for others. Dan really enjoyed being in sales, especially his customers. He was always doing small but meaningful things like taking them his famous BBQ sauce.

Dan had a knack for adventure from cliff diving in Hawaii, parasailing in Tahiti, snorkeling in St. Thomas and skiing in Lake Tahoe. He liked a good sunrise, always up early to see them. There was no rest on vacation, especially Las Vegas - “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas” might have been about Dan. Most importantly he never said “no” to a new rescue dog.

However, Dan’s greatest joy and role was being Kasen’s dad. Dan was remarkable father. He woke up every morning to make Kasen’s breakfast. Together they created many wonderful memories on father/son trips to spring training, Virginia Beach, golfing, concerts, March Madness, camping and fishing. Dan coached countless teams and was Kasen’s biggest fan, especially baseball. Dan always encouraged and supported Kasen in all his endeavors. Simply the best.

Dan will always be remembered fondly as a dear husband, dad, son, brother and friend.

Dan is survived by his wife, Katie; son, Kasen; mom, Janet Hickey; sisters, Rene and Jac Tardie; brothers, Jason and Paul Tardie; in-laws, Steve and Lynda Bloomquist; sisters-in-law, Lauren and Meredith Bloomquist; brothers-in-law, Christian Bloomquist, Ian Patel and Joe Causino; nephews, Callen, Arjun, Rowan and River; niece, Ari; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial service will be held at ABIDING SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 406 W. Cottage Grove Road, Cottage Grove, at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations be made to Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills, WI or St. Dennis School in Madison, WI.

Katie and Kasen wish to extend heartfelt thanks to Angel Varnell, ReSound, IAT Insurance, and Lakeside Lutheran High School for the incredible support during this difficult time. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I’ve always admired how talented Dan was. From amazing barbeque sauce to painting Kasen’s nursery, to whatever sport he picked up—he was exceptional. He could talk to anyone; conversations with Dan felt effortless. But his greatest gift was as a father, as shown by the amazing boy he and Katie raised. Will miss you, Dan. Ian

I was honored to be asked to do the flowers at Dan & Katie's wedding. Unbeknownst to them, I fell in love with the location they chose for their reception. Absolutely stunning and perfect for "desert kids". Limes in bubble bowls with hot pink gerbera daisies. I smile to this very day. Years later when my only child married. Guess where we held not only the reception but the ceremony too. I'm so sorry. My heart truly hugs you from JT

I met Dan when we worked at Enterprise prob 25+ years ago. I was saddened when I learned about his passing. What a great man. We used to talk sports of all kinds and about life in general. Katie, Meredith, Christian and all the rest always treated me like family and I am so sorry for your loss. It’s been a long time and we kind of fell out of touch, but this news hurts. My thoughts, love and condolences to the entire Tardie/Bloomquist family.
