Obituary
STOUGHTON - Yvonne Lee Schnur, age 91, of Stoughton, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at UW Health East Madison Hospital. She was born on April 7, 1935, in Hilbert, WI, the daughter of Ed and Ethel (Wolf) Dohr.
Yvonne graduated from Brillion High School in 1953. She married the love of her life, Walter Schnur, on November 10, 1953, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brillion, WI. Yvonne and Walter spent the majority of their married life in the Sheboygan Falls, WI area. They were married for 71 years until Walter’s passing in 2025. Walter, “Dad” as she affectionately called him, was “her man” and forever love.
Yvonne was a devoted homemaker who filled her children’s lives with love, joy and comfort. She shared her caring spirit with others through 10 years of volunteering at Sharon Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls; as a volunteer with the prayer chain at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Sheboygan Falls; and as a member of the Red Hat Society.
Yvonne found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved gardening, bird watching, and playing cards, especially Sheepshead and Golf. She treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was an amazing grandmother who never missed an opportunity to attend their activities and cheer them on. Her family was her greatest joy.
Yvonne had a deep love of music, especially the songs of the 1940s and ’50s, classic country, Johnny Cash, and Elvis. She was a wonderful singer and was especially well known for her unforgettable laugh-when Yvonne laughed, everyone knew it! She also loved baking and was famous for her delicious tortes and other homemade treats. Her warmth, laughter, generosity, and love for her family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Yvonne is survived by her daughter, Lori (Bob) Tremlett; sons, Jeffrey (Shirley Puente) Schnur and Rick Schnur; grandchildren, Scott (Kara Vartanian) Tremlett, Stephen (Lindsay) Tremlett, Stacy (Chase) Brieman, Donna Schnur, Melissa (Mitch) Erickson and Peter Schnur; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Carter Brieman, and Owen and Harper Tremlett; and sisters, Cheri (Joe) Weiss and Darlene Geiger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; parents, Ed and Ethel; brothers, Del Dohr and Jim Dohr.
A special thank you to the staff at Kettle Park for the care, support, and kindness they provided to Yvonne over the last four years. The family is especially grateful to the Agrace hospice nurses and aides who cared for Yvonne during the final nine months of her life.
We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at UW East Madison Hospital for the exceptional care they provided during Yvonne’s final week. Their unwavering compassion, kindness, and dedication brought great comfort to Yvonne and our family during an incredibly difficult time.
