Obituary
MADISON - Bette J. (Swiggum) Reynolds passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. She was born on September 28, 1930, in Madison, Wis., to Alfred and Rosella (Pflaum) Swiggum. She was raised on a farm in Madison and moved to the 'city' when she was in high school.
Bette graduated from East High School with the class of 1948. On August 19, 1950, she married Floyd “Bud” Reynolds. She worked for Dane County until her retirement in 1990, and for 30 years she volunteered at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. In her free time, she enjoyed following the Badgers, especially the women’s volleyball team, for which she had season tickets for many years, as well as the Packers and the Brewers. She also enjoyed helping raise her grandchildren and saw more than her share of hockey games in every rink in Dane County and beyond. The grandkids were her pride and joy. She loved to play cards and participated in several card clubs over the years. Bette was very proud of her Norwegian heritage!
She was a wonderful and involved mom and grandma. Bette is survived by her daughter, LeeAnn (Bob) Glover and their children, Chris (Taylor Porter) of Boston, Mass., Alex (Alyssa) of Denver, Colo., and Katie (Ty Lacey) of Seattle, Wash.; step-sons, Bob (Carol) Reynolds and Ron Reynolds and his children, Rhonda Griffin, Brenda (Devin) LaBonte and Brian Reynolds; nieces and nephews, Sue (Roger) Oakey, Glen Swiggum, Carol Taplin and Melodie (Tom) Virnig; as well as other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud, in 1976; brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Donna Swiggum; and step-grandson, Randy Reynolds.
