Obituary

MIDDLETON - George Leonard Poster, age 78, of Middleton, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. He was born on April 12, 1947, in Chicago, the son of George Poster and Elizabeth (Young) Stapleford. George was united in marriage to Karen Anderson on April 4, 1981.

George was passionate about education, in the traditional sense and passing along bits of knowledge to his family and friends. George graduated from UW-Madison with both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. After graduating, George owned an advertising agency and was frequently contracted as a professional writer. Upon retiring from the field of advertising, George continued freelance writing and was also active in the stock market.

George was an avid reader and had hundreds of books. He especially enjoyed history and science fiction novels. He enjoyed many different styles of art, and he cherished his Pablo Picasso paintings and his extensive vinyl record collection. The item he loved the most was his 1965 classic Buick Riviera.

George was a globetrotter. Along with his wife, Karen, nieces and nephews, and many family members, George traveled the world exploring many different cultures. These experiences stimulated his life-long thirst for knowledge and understanding of history.

George is survived by his wife, Karen; nieces, Rachel (Chris) Bell, Sarah (Jordan) Teele and Lisa (Ryan) Rupe; nephews, Matt (Amy) Anderson, Jeff (Tracey) Leider and Erick (Beth) Leider; and grandchildren, Devan and Kendall. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and George; and his two closest friends.

Karen and family, So sincerely sorry for George’s passing. I have many fond memories of George at Badger Football games, pool parties, Christmas parties, and the transplant parties you both hosted. May he have all the Bailey’s Irish Cream (or is that your thing, Karen) You both found the love of your life in each other, and you took care of him to the end. Thinking of you all and sending hugs and love 💕
