Mrs. Bennett was my 5th grade teacher during the '76-'77 school year and yet my memories of her and that year are vivid. She brought in cows' eyes for us to dissect and demonstrated lungs by blowing into cow lungs. She also let me direct a play I had rewritten to correspond to the election between Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford. She was a creative, interesting teacher to knew her students well and supported them well. As a teacher myself she was a real model. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I have fond memories of Mary every Christmas. I started my teaching career in Stoughton and worked alongside Mary for years until my son was born. She sent me a wonderful ornament every year, showcasing her rosemaling expertise. I have put all those ornaments on a huge wreath that lives in a prominent place in our home every holiday season. She was a beautiful person and I was blessed to know her. Judy Novotny
