Obituary

Madison - James L. Stauffer, age 90, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at home. He was born on August 6, 1935, in Delavan, Ill., the son of George and Florence (Langenbahn) Stauffer.


James graduated from Pekin Community High School. He married Phyllis Stauffer on July 2, 1965, in Pekin, Ill. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963.


James worked at Keystone Steel and Wire for 30 years. He loved dogs, enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals (depending on the year), liked playing cards, played softball and baseball, and collecting beer steins. James was also a member of the Scottish Rite and the Masons


James is survived by his wife, Phyllis; two sons, James Stauffer (Ellen Spiering) and Michael "Mike" (Cindy) Stauffer; daughter, Deb Stauffer Alfano (Tony Alfano); two granddaughters, Madison Stauffer and Ariana Alfano; and grandson, Nathan Alfano.


He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Florence Stauffer; and sister, Marjorie Vaughn.


A celebration of life will be held at the MILLER CENTER, 551 S. 14th St., Pekin, Ill., from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I have many years of wonderful memories. I first met Jim same night i met my husband Bsbe and Bobby Martin. They were the three stooges. We laughed all night. Don Boldt was there too. Great bunch of guys. All in heaven now and im sure they are happy. Love and hugs to all of you.

Phyllis so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. We had so much fun with Jim and Phyllis while they stayed down here in Florida for the winter. We had many years of eating, playing cards, and touring cities. Jim was the best "tour guide" we ever had!!! We have wonderful memories!! We loved Jim, and we will miss him!!!
