Ross E. Hammer

July 30, 1982 - November 08, 2025

Obituary

MADISON - Ross Edward Hammer was born July 30, 1982, on a crystal-clear night in Laramie, Wyoming. He was the beloved son of Richard Hammer (Jamie) of Sheridan, Wyoming and Lisa Britt (Steve) of Lodi, Wisconsin. He died November 8, 2025, at University of Wisconsin Health Center, Madison, Wisconsin.

Ross spent his childhood in Sheridan and Billings before moving to Madison, Wisconsin while in grade school. At Middleton High School he excelled in sports, earning letters in both football and basketball. He was an avid golfer and cherished playing rounds with his brother, Greg (Angel). One of his happiest moments was hitting a hole-in-one on October 2, 2010.

Ross graduated from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and went on to build a successful career in sales and marketing in the Madison area. Favorite activities included fishing in the Big Horns and spending time on Lake Wisconsin and being with those he cared about. He was devoted to his partner, Amber Selje and her children, Lani, Lakyn and Ryker. Ross was a constant supporter of Ryker and Lakyn on the ice with their hockey teams. His Bernese Mountain dogs were his faithful companions, never far from his side.

In addition to his parents, partner and brother, Ross is survived by and adored his niece, Olivia Etta Hammer; and nephew, Beau Ross Hammer; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He leaves behind a wide circle of friends and family who will miss him dearly.

It saddens me to read about Russ's passing. We crossed paths when we briefly worked together at FGC. All I remember is his positive vibes towards all.

Ross and I connected through the data center industry. His commitment, customer service and warm, happy spirit was ever present. This news came as a shock as always when we learn of such tragic, sad news. To Ross’s family- he was loved and respected and I will miss him.
