Obituary
OREGON - Thomas Richard Valley, age 72, of Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. He was born on October 25, 1953, in Flint, Mich., the son of Richard and Jane Valley.
Thomas graduated from Luke M. Powers High School in the Class of 1972. He received a degree in business administration from Ferris State College in 1977. Thomas was united in marriage to Bonnie Brown, and they enjoyed 47 years of marriage together.
Thomas worked as a sales/ area representative from 1979-2008 for various oil companies, including UNOCAL, UNOVEN, and Lakeside Oil.
Tom loved sports. As a participant, he played football in high school. As a dedicated fan, he enthusiastically cheered for University of Michigan football, Detroit Lions, Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. As a coach, he was supportive and encouraging on the sidelines for his children’s soccer and basketball teams. He loved capturing the beauty and memorable moments through his photography and enjoyed hiking, especially in the Northwest. Tom will be remembered for his love of family and friends, his amazing sense of humor and storytelling. He will be missed greatly by his loving dogs, Ziva and Charlie. We know he is with God now.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children, Erin (Ben), Crissa (Will) and Joe (Karen); grandchild, Mia; brothers, Matt (Susie), Paul (Susan) and Rick (Lanie); sisters, Cheryl (Dick) and Jaynie (Tom); and sister-in-law, Rita. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jane and Richard; and brother, David.
A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 3 p.m. on Saturday November 15, 2025. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
Tom was a caring supporter of the missions of The Ronald McDonald House (www.rmhcmadison.org) and St. Vincent De Paul Society (www.svdpmadison.org). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either of those organizations. Special thanks to Carbone Cancer Center and Agrace HospiceCare for the compassionate care they gave to Tom.
