Obituary
CROSS PLAINS - Jane Festge Klisz, 63, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025, after a long battle with lung disease. She was originally from Cross Plains, Wis., being the daughter of Lyle M. Festge and Lillian (Dodge) Festge. She grew up on what many still call the “Festge Farm” on Highway 14 in Cross Plains, then her parents’ property immediately adjacent to the current Festge County Park. Jane went through life with a constant profound appreciation of the intrinsic beauty of that area, and it was ALL her playground growing up, especially with her parents and siblings.
Jane graduated from Wisconsin Heights High School in 1981. Upon her graduation, she attended the Scientific Beauty College in Madison, earning her Cosmetology and Manager’s licenses. Jane would go on to have a long career as a cosmetologist, having several of her own salons throughout her career, dotted with stints in other salons as well, in locations ranging from west Madison all the way to Mazomanie. Jane absolutely loved her work and prided herself on being a profound perfectionist at her craft. Many people came to personally know Jane through her work.
As for interests and hobbies, one stands out in particular. Jane was an avid gardener. She would spend countless hours doting over her wide variety of plants, both inside and outside any place she called home. Any pollinating bees she encountered were considered her friends. She often said that if she were not a cosmetologist, she would be a horticulturalist. Jane also liked to cook and is infamously famous within her family for her special cheesy potatoes, Asian slaw salad, and baked beans, which were voraciously gobbled up at any family function.
Jane is survived by her husband of 18 years, Andrew Klisz III; her children, Michael Ray King and Kelsey Jane King; her precious grandchildren, Hadley Nielsen (Kelsey’s daughter, age 8) and Amelia King (Michael’s daughter, age 4); and her siblings, Jan (Cheryl) Festge, Julie (Craig) Moore and James (Michelle) Festge. She is preceded in death by both of her parents.
Jane was loved by all her family, and she will forever be dearly missed. Her family is comforted in the fact that all her pain has finally passed, and she is forever in the hands of her Lord.
