I indeed remember that Mary was brilliant and, either because of it or in spite of it, she was unbelievably humble and generous. I enjoyed our time as piano teacher and piano student's mother and various activities at church. When Rachel got married, Mary asked about my organist fee and I told her that former piano students did not pay. She didn't accept that and somehow found out exactly how much it was costing me to fly from Ohio to Wisconsin for the wedding and wrote me a check for the exact amount. Both Mary and Peter were always accommodating for whatever needed to be done and Gary and I are so sorry that you have lost both of them in such a short time period.
