Obituary

Beloit - Sharon Kay Marten, age 68, of Beloit, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on November 21, 1956, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of David and Irene (Borchardt) Riddle.


Sharon spent her childhood in Madison. She attended Crestwood Elementary School and graduated from Madison Memorial High School in 1975. She married Michael Marten at Grace Lutheran Church in Madison in 1978. Sharon worked as a Clerk for American Family Insurance. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. In her free time, she enjoyed playing euchre and other card games with her family and friends.


Sharon is survived by her husband, Michael; sons, Daniel (Kristyl) Marten and Jonathan Marten; daughter, Elizabeth Marten (Partner: Jordan); grandsons, Caleb, Noah and Chance; granddaughters, Bridget and Kalli; great-granddaughter, Nova; brother, James (Rose) Riddle Sr.; as well as other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carrie Theis; and brother, Jeffery Riddle Sr.


A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday June 20, 2026.

One time I was going to a wedding shower and it was hot and o didn’t have air in my car and they melted all over my seat Sharon said to me cover it w Saran paper and iron it it will come up and it did. Cousin advice worked. Sharon and my family had a close relationship with growi growing up and she will b missed! ❤️
