Obituary
STOUGHTON / ARENA - Richard Lock, age 94, of Arena, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at home. He was born on October 30, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Charles and Dorothy (Nicholson) Lock, the third oldest of 13 children.
Richard attended Solon High School in Ohio starting in 1948. His military service followed, serving in the Air Force during the Korean invasion from 1949-1952. He married Alice (Denman) Lock on November 8, 1952.
Richard worked as an electrician for individual electric companies and then opened his own business, Lock Electric. He then opened his own construction company called Allen Construction.
Richard had a deep love for the outdoors, especially enjoying deer and bear hunting, bike rides through the woods, and peaceful walks with his wife, Alice, and their beloved dog, Lady. Together Richard and Alice shared a passion for travel, with cherished trips to England and the western United States among their favorites. As a dedicated Boy Scout leader, he took great pride in guiding and mentoring young people. Richard also had a strong sense of community and joyfully shared his interests. Whether it was playing cards, making wine and chili, or delighting his children with his homemade root beer.
Richard is survived by his four daughters, Sharon (Paul) Mallow, Linda (Gary) Wackett, Sandra (Ed) Luehrmann, and Joy Hall; five sons, Rick (Suzan) Lock, Steven (Tina) Lock, Don (Robin) Lock, Jim (Chris) Lock, and Scott (Sara) Lock; and was loved by his many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; and parents, Charles and Dorothy Lock.
A funeral service will be held at Gunderson Oregon Funeral and Cremation Care, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 12 noon on Friday, October 24, 2025. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday, October 24, 2025. A private burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens.
