Obituary

MADISON - Kenneth C. Sherman, age 83, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on November 13, 1941, in Columbus, the son of Maude (Cloute) Sherman.

Kenneth graduated from Columbus High School in 1960 and attended UW-Madison.  He worked for Oscar Mayer for many years, retiring in 1999.

Kenneth had been a Boy Scout leader and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking and camping on the Boundary Waters and Crystal Lake. He spent his free time participating in archery leagues, gardening, photography and was a fish hobbyist finding tranquility in watching the fish swim in his tanks. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. Although he had five children, he was like a father to so many more.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 26 years, Holly Hanson; children, Kim (Nicole Funck) Sherman, Scott Sherman, Mark Sherman, Tracy (Brandon Salfai) Sherman and Leah (Billy) Robertson; grandchildren, Danielle Sherman, Michael (Hunter) Sherman, Nathaniel (Kelsie) Hoffman, Nicholas (Audrey) Hoffman, McKayla Hoffman, Natasha Hoffman and Oliver Robertson; brother, Henry Sherman; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by mother, Maude; sister, Marie Jones; and brother, John Sherman.

A Celebration of Ken’s life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

Thanks Ken for all the years you treated me like another daughter.I have such fond memories of camping at Crystal Lake. Even when it rained you made sure we were all well cared for. Even many years later your kindness is remembered through tears of what a great human being you were. You will be greatly missed!

Been thinking of Ken, Holly, and their family. As my family and I reminisced about our time in Madison, we count ourselves as very fortunate to have made lifelong friends. Memories of Ken center around his camping kitchen, his enjoyment of spending time laughing with us about our shenanigans! We will always remember his warm heart and welcoming spirit. May you rest easy Ken. ❤️ Love, Monica, Rich, and Amanda Reilly
