Obituary

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Phillip Woodworth “Phil” Hohensee, 24, most recently of Los Angeles, Calif., passed away on September 25, 2025, in Statesboro, Ga. While living in the Los Angeles area, Phillip grew to enjoy the southern California lifestyle. Those who knew Phillip well, admired his ability for deep thought, self-reflection, and the incredible peacefulness of his soul.

Since Phillip was very young, he had an amazing tenacity that motivated him to excel at all things he chose to do. Shortly after moving to Cottage Grove from central Florida, Phillip pursued a black belt in karate. During this time, Phillip entered several karate tournaments, winning many and always placing highly as an under belt against full black belts.

Phillip was a great lover of music, not only listening to and appreciating so many genres but he also wrote and performed his music. His performance career began at the age of nine with a performance of My Generation at his elementary school talent show, continued with a local talent show performance of Billie Jean and most recently performed his own music on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Phillip was also a devoted skateboarder and spent much time throughout his teen years honing his skills at the Madison Skatepark and was a part of the skater community in Madison.

At the time of his passing, Phillip was pursuing a career helping people afflicted with substance abuse and addiction.

Phillip is survived by his parents, Phil and Dona Hohensee of Cottage Grove, Wis.; his siblings, Alexandra Higgins of Ball Ground, Ga., Christopher Stanhope-Scott of Milladore, Wis. and Luke Hohensee of Cottage Grove, Wis. Phillip is also survived by his Granny, Nana and Poppa, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

I am so sorry for your loss! My son was a friend of Phil’s. They met in Chicago several years ago and kept in touch ever since. Phil talked my son into coming out and spending time with him in LA. I am very grateful that he did as he helped my son by showing him sincere and true friendship. I met Phil once in Chicago and talked to him over the phone many times during my son’s visit. I always found Phil to be honest, genuine, caring and kind. I will keep Phil’s memory and pray for him and all those who loved him.

On New Year’s Day 2025 , we were on our way home from a firework show. It was about a 40 minute drive and I remember everybody was asleep and this song came on, but I wanted to skip it because I didn’t wanna won’t be soft in front of other people and out of the darkness I heard him say no no skip don’t skip this song. I love this song. This is that song. RIP. The end of the world~skeeter Davis
