Obituary
MIDDLETON - Mary Sylvia Duckwitz, age 89, of Middleton, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Heritage Monona. She was born on July 11, 1936, in Madison, the daughter of Alfred and Martha (Kung) Stucki.
Mary graduated from Middleton High School. She married Edwin Duckwitz on September 28, 1962. She worked for the University of Wisconsin Law School as an admissions counselor, retiring at age 55. Mary and Ed traveled throughout the lower 48 states in their motorhome. They also traveled extensively outside of the USA. They also spent over 40 years at their summer cabin on Lake of the Woods, Canada (named Moon River) with family and friends.
Nothing gave Mary more joy than playing the piano. She played weekly at the Middleton Senior Center for years.
Mary is survived by her stepson, Scott (Kathleen); daughter-in-law, Jane; granddaughters, Jillian (Scott) and Stefanie (Lea); and great-grandson, Miloh. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Martha; husband, Ed; siblings, Alfred, Gertrude, Jean, Rose, Rudy, Walter and Werner; and stepson, Steve.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Burial will take place at Middleton Junction Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
