Obituary

STOUGHTON - Ronald Allen Buser, age 57, of Stoughton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 8, 2025. He was born on October 18, 1967, in Hillsboro, Wis., the son of Robert and Karen (Hoefs) Buser.

Ron grew up in Madison, Wis., where he attended the Madison Metropolitan School District and graduated from Madison East High School in June 1985. He worked at Weir Group, working with his father, cousin, Jeff, and many friends as a Production Team Member, helping to build pumps for the mining industry until September of 2015.

In his free time, Ron enjoyed hunting, especially for whitetail deer, and cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers, even being a proud owner of the Green Bay Packers team. In the summers, weekends at “the cabin” in Mauston were a favorite place to bring the family together, spending days riding ATVs and late nights cooking out and drinking beer by the fire with Toby Keith blaring from his truck. In the fall, Ron would surely be at Deer Camp, a crew consisting of Busers, Yerkes, Scharfenbergs, Smiths, Halversons, and many more. Ron had many proud photos taken of deer harvested off the land during his lifetime, the meat of which became a culinary delicacy for his family. In the winter, Ron would transition to snowmobiling, as the weather allowed. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Ron was renowned in the neighborhood for utilizing his ATV to plow snow from neighbors’ sidewalks and driveways.

Ron especially took great pride in his children. In his son, Colin, he passed on an appreciation for speed and motors, to which Colin puts to use through his career as an automotive mechanic and through hobbies such as ATV racing. For his daughter, Courtney, he was proud of her recent graduation as a veterinarian and was looking forward to becoming a grandfather in November 2025. In both children he established a passion for the outdoors. He made sure they were well-educated in safety for various outdoor activities by taking both kids to ATV, boater’s, snowmobiler’s, and hunter’s safety courses as soon as they were old enough. Both kids continue to utilize and expand upon these outdoor interests in their adult lives.

Ronald is survived by his parents, Robert and Karen Buser; former wife and dear friend, Jennifer Loomis; daughter, Courtney (Brent Holte) Buser and unborn grandchild; son, Colin Buser; cousins that were more like brothers, Richard (Carianne) Yerkes and Jeffrey (Deborah) Yerkes and their children; and many friends, especially Ronald Coleman, Patrick Glynn and Eugene Johnson, as well as friends at his home in Rosewood apartments in Stoughton. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gilbert “Gib” and Lorraine (Bergeon) Buser, and August and Nina (Lietz) Hoefs; uncle, Howard Buser; aunts, Betty (Melteson) Hoefs, Millie (Hoefs) Jones and Karen Hoefs; cousin, Kimmy Hoefs; and numerous beloved pets.

Ron was a dear neighbor. Many a windy, snowy day he helped clear our driveway with a smile and a friendly wave. On warmer days we were always welcome to grab a chair or share a beverage at their backyard firepit. Ron’s stories were always about his children, a recent trip up north, the family pets or funny things that happened at home. His eyes were always full of pride and love when he spoke of his family and friends. He was a kind and gentle man; sadly Kvalheim isn’t the same without him. RIP Ron.
