David J. Erickson
January 26, 1953 - September 08, 2025
Obituary
David James Erickson, a loving husband, father, and grandpa, went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 8, 2025, at the age of 72 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Dave was born in Columbus, Wisconsin, on January 26, 1953, to the late James and Pearl Erickson. He grew up in East Bristol and graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1971. Dave worked for the United States Postal Service from 1973 until his retirement in 2008. After retiring, he continued working part-time for Stellar Services, LLC in Stoughton until 2024.
In 1976, Dave met the love of his life, Paula (Holmen), and they married in 1978. Together they raised two children: Scott Erickson of Sun Prairie and Michelle (Anthony) Cook of Lake Mills.
Dave’s passion for sports-particularly bowling-was only surpassed by his love for family and being a grandpa. He was a regular attendee at his grandchildren’s events, and his presence will be tremendously missed by all five of them. He amassed many bowling accolades throughout his life, with his most recent notable achievement being his 50th consecutive USBC Tournament in Las Vegas, celebrating the milestone with lifelong friends and family members.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Paula; son Scott Erickson (children Brody and Carter); daughter Michelle (Anthony) Cook (children Lorelai, Ryker, and Axton); sister Sue (Bob) Hunt of Madison; niece Kayla (Keith) Hunt of Rochester, NY; nephew Drew (Kodie) Ritchie of Cape Girardeau, MO; and nephew Brent (Alison) Ritchie of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Pearl Erickson.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kankre and the staff at UW Carbone Cancer Center for their exceptional care, and to the Agrace hospice team-especially Kristin, Grace, and Tonya-for their kindness and assistance. Also, thank you to Pastor Craig from Real Hope Community Church for his support.
A Christian service will be held to honor Dave at Real Hope Community Church in Lake Mills on Saturday, September 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. There will not be a formal visitation or meal at the church.
Dave’s celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 28 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Maple Tree in McFarland. Please come as you are.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to UW Carbone Cancer Center or Agrace Hospice.
We will miss you, Papa Dave.
