Daniel Schraufnagel

BROOKLYN - Daniel Noel “Dan” Schraufnagel, age 36, of Brooklyn, Wis., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 6, 2025. He was born on April 24, 1989, in Madison, Wis., the son of Guy Schraufnagel and Kari Diederich. Dan graduated from Oregon High School in June 2007. Although friends for many years, he met the love of his life, Joann Ace, and they were married at the Ace Homestead Family Farm in Oregon on September 29, 2012.

Currently employed for over seven years at Arbor Systems as a tree arborist, he was previously employed as a farm hand at Batker Farms for several years. Dan cherished and looked up to both his mentors, Jeff Olson and Don Batker. He treasured these mentors with respect and as high-honored role models.

Dan was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting, fishing, boating, combining, grilling, bonfires, lifting weights and spending time with family. Dan always looked forward to sitting in his deer stand or being on the lake fishing with his wife and children.

He was a loving son to Kari and Guy, a dear brother to Cory, devoted husband to Joann, exceptional father to his two beautiful daughters, Leslie and Claire, and a loyal friend to many! His generosity of spirit and deep love for his family were evident in everything he did. His love for Joann was cherished in everything they did together.

Dan was the backbone of his family. He would travel any distance to take care of his family, everyone around him, and was always five steps ahead of everyone in the things he did. He supported Joann and his girls’ dreams day in and day out of their horse competitions. People knew Dan for being a handy man who could fix anything. Dan was Joann’s best dancing partner on and off the floor. “I love you to the moon and back” was their special saying to each other. He always had a smile on his face and never complained, no matter what he had going on.

He was the guy to run errands for everyone, always there to get supplies for family and friends. At horse shows, he didn’t just help and support his family, he would help anyone who needed a hand. Saying Dan will be missed is an understatement. Words cannot describe the way his family felt about him.

He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Joann; daughters, Leslie and Claire; his parents, Guy (Susan) and Kari; brother, Cory Schraufnagel; parents-in-law, Wayne and Dee Ace; sisters-and-brothers-in-law, Angie (Lee) Haag, Chester (Holly) Ace, Shelly (Lance) Brugger and Brooke Ace; step brothers, Jimmy (Amanda) Baneck and Eric (Lindsay) Baneck; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents Chuck and Donna Diederich and Don and Kathy Schraufnagel; aunts, Donna Covey, Arie Yount and Lucy Rose Schraufnagel; and uncle, Mark Schraufnagel.

A funeral service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 625 E. Netherwood St., Oregon, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, with the Rev. Ellen Stelzle presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, and also at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
 

Dan will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering integrity, and love for his family. His laughter and wisdom were gifts to everyone who knew him. Dan’s never-ending generosity and carefree smile will be missed forever but will always be in our hearts!
