Obituary

MIDDLETON - Dennis Elmer Hach, age 72, of Middleton, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in Winter Haven, Fla. He was born on November 11, 1952, in Richland Center, Wis., the son of Elmer and Betty (Snyder) Hach.

Dennis graduated from Middleton High School in 1971. While in high school, he participated in baseball and wrestling. Dennis spent most of his career with and retired from the City of Middleton Parks Department. He cared for the trails, prairies, ice rinks and baseball fields.

He served as President of the Middleton Jaycee Organization during the 1980s and was proud to lead his local chapter. A passionate athlete, he coached the 51 Classics fast pitch softball team at the Bowling Green and traveled across the country competing in national tournaments. He played for both the Middleton and Ashton Home Talent. Dennis was an enthusiastic sports fan, faithfully cheering on the Brewers, Badgers, Packers, Ashton and Middleton Home Talent, and truly anything related to sports.

Dennis had a green thumb and a lifelong love of gardening. He found joy in nurturing the soil, and cultivating beautiful plants. Friends and family often commented on his ability to grow anything, anywhere. In his later years in Florida, he delighted in exploring new plants and expanding his gardening knowledge, always eager to learn and to take photos of his flowers in bloom to share with loved ones.

Dennis is survived by his son, Cory Hach of Middleton; his daughter, Carly (Josh) Gordon of Mineral Point; and his beloved grandchildren, Lottie and Chase Gordon. He is also survived by his sisters, Judy Slinde, MaryAnn (Ted) Pestor, and Rosmarie (Rob) Kapinos. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Betty Hach; and his brother-in-law, Bob Slinde.

A gathering to honor Denny’s memory will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 75435 University Ave., Middleton, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025.

To the family of Denny Hatch.: I met Denny through the Church at Midland UMC in Mazomanie about 5 years ago. I so enjoyed his enthusiasm and willingness to help when needed. His beautiful flower garden in Florida was a thing of beauty that helped us get through the winter months here in Wisconsin watching His green thumb blossom. I will miss his smiling face and sunshine. Bless you always, Denny. Merita Berryman, Mount Horeb Wisconsin.

I send my condolences to Dennis's family. I knew Dennis through my brother (Kurtis Swenson). Remembered watching him wrestle in State tournaments and play Home Talent baseball for years. I'm posting a pic of the three amigos they were inseparable at that time. (Denny, Kurt and Ted)
