Obituary

EVANSVILLE - David Bradley Staley, age 37, of Evansville, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. He was born on October 17, 1987, in Madison, the son of Bradley and Linda (Keller) Staley.

Dave graduated from Oregon High School in 2006. He married Chelsie Staley on September 22, 2012, in Cottage Grove.

Dave enjoyed anything that had to do with the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed showing his son, Jackson, how to hunt and fish. Dave loved that he was able to share with Jackson his favorite fishing place in Canada where he had traveled since he was 4 years old. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending various sporting events. Hockey, football, baseball and golf were his favorites. Dave’s favorite team was the Detroit Lions. You could find him on Sundays in full Lions attire, from his Barry Sanders jersey to his Lions Zubaz. He also loved watching Jackson play sports and most recently cherished the family’s trip to Iowa to watch Jackson play baseball in the Field of Dreams tournament.

Dave had a great sense of humor and could make you laugh, even on days you didn’t want to. He loved spending time with his family playing board games and cards.

Dave is survived by his wife, Chelsie; son, Jackson Staley; parents, Brad and Linda Staley; brother, Mitchell (Lindsay) Staley; nephew, Cameron Staley; niece, Ella Staley; in-laws, DJ and Jackie George; sister-in-law, Bailey (fiancé Luke) George; uncle, Chuck Lagerstrom; aunt, Cindy Olsen; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Mary Keller and Arleigh and Betty Staley; uncle, Dale Olsen; and aunt, Kim Lagerstrom.

David was one of our favorite kids in our neighborhood when he was little. He would ring our doorbell and ask if any of our kids were home. When we would say no he would ask if he could come in and play Nintendo. He always said his mom knew where he was but a quick call to Linda proved different. 😁. David was always welcome at our home. Rest in peace David. ❤️

I wish I had video proof of this one...but at our Senior lock-in he put on THE BEST karaoke performance of Tim McGraw's "Gettin Down on the Farm" tha I have ever seen! He even did a lil 2 step during the performance! He had a gift for lighting up the room and making everyone smile thats for sure! I will continue to always think of him when I hear that song.
