Obituary

SUN PRAIRIE- David Oliver Schwenn, 87, passed away on August 15, 2025, at home with his loving wife of 61 years, Judy Schwenn, by his side. David was born on February 20, 1938, in Madison, Wis., the son of Herman and Genevieve (Clarke) Schwenn.


David attended East High School in Madison, Wis., and proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine from 1955 - 1959. He was united in marriage to Judy Thomas on May 12, 1964, in Madison. He was employed at the US Post Office for 32 years, retiring in 1992.


David enjoyed sports - especially the Badgers, Packers and Brewers, and watching old movies. He had an endless collection of DVDs to choose from, with each one being the “Greatest.” He will be remembered for his love of spending time at the lake with his kids and grandkids, and how much he looked forward to his poker games with good friends from the Post Office.


David is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Debra (Andy) Krogan, Barb (Jack) Kolb, Gregory (Kirsten) Schwenn, Scott (Stephanie) Schwenn and Jay Schwenn; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Ronald Schwenn, Sharon Sime and Curtis Schwenn. He was preceded in death by his parents.


A celebration of life will be held at EDWARDS-FOYE AMERICAN LEGION POST 534, 4911 Burma Road, McFarland, Wis., from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2025. There will be a tribute of remembrance beginning at 2:30 p.m.

There is so many good times with dave and family it was fun.i could list alot of them but wouldn't know what one would be the best.the only one would be i made a video called "in search of dave Schwenn ".went to all different family members asking ,,have you seen dave...all answers were funny.but I did find him.lol. dave you were a special bother in law you will be missed greatly from me and all family members....love you....

Never met a person who enjoyed life more than Dave, no matter what he was doing he found a way to have fun. Heaven just became so much more entertaining. I can see Dave and Jack laughing and enjoying an old fashioned. RIP Dave, you will be truly missed.
