Obituary

MADISON - Mathew Claudius Ohima, age 29, of Madison, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 7, 2025. He was born on August 10, 1995, the beloved son of Claudius Lomoro and Elizabeth Bulla.


Mathew worked as a general manager for Dollar Tree, where his leadership, humor and warmth left a lasting impression on his colleagues.

 

Mathew had a rare gift - he could walk into any room and instantly make friends. With his quick wit, charming smile and genuine heart, he turned everyday moments into cherished memories. He poured his creativity into writing, breakdancing and making music, even teaching himself to play the piano, violin and guitar. His curiosity for life and his ability to connect with people made him unforgettable.


Mathew is survived by his parents, Claudius and Elizabeth; sister, Gloria Ohima; brothers, George Ohima and Abraham Ohima; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Though his time here was far too short, his warmth, laughter and kindness will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.


A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday August 30, 2025.

I knew him for about a year, but within that year he changed a lot about how I saw people and now that I look back it means so much to me. I miss him with all my heart and cry for his family as they still go through this. But his kindness moved people in a way that will be lasting, and I give my condolences. May he rest in peace and in good memory to us all.

I don't know what to say, Matt. I met you back in 2011 when I first got on the game, IMVU. You always joked around and guided me in learning new things or thinking outside the norm, since you were older than I was. I appreciate you always looking out for me, even if we didn't talk for months. I'm going to miss you, big homie.
