Obituary

BARNEVELD - Lonna Rae Arneson, age 81, of Barneveld, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, the same day as her father’s birthday. She was born on October 28, 1943, in Dodgeville, the daughter of Thomas Sr. and Lois (Evans) Arneson.


Lonna graduated from Barneveld High School in 1961. She worked as a customer service representative for Land's End for 27 years.


Lonna loved spending time with her family. She was always the first to volunteer for family events and the first to give everyone a Shekel.


Lonna will be missed by her daughter, Ellen (Bob) Slinde; son, Stephen Wolenec; grandchildren, Joshua (Ashley) Wolenec and Wyatt (Isabel) Slinde; great-grandchildren, Brantley Slinde and Wrenley Slinde; sister, Dianne (Jerry) Jacobson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Matthew Slinde; and brother, Thomas Arneson Jr.


A graveside service will take place at WEST BLUE MOUNDS CEMETERY, Highway F and Highway ID, Blue Mounds, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025. A celebration of life will follow at LARSONVILLE SCHOOL HOUSE, 4948 County Road HH, Barneveld, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

It is with immense sadness to learn of Lonnie's death. In recent years, we had reconnected on Facebook, sharing a number of treasured private messages. It was but one week ago, or so, when I received her last, lovely message. May, now, she be at peace--with her Mom, Dad, and Tommy, along with so many other family members and friends. Lastly, I send my family's condolences to her entire family-- especially to Stephen, Ellen, and Dianne and their families. My parents bought Lonnie's used trombone when she was done using it through high school. I was in fourth grade. I still use the trombone today while playing in the Barneveld Area Community Band, some 62 years later!
