MADISON - Richard Robert Larsen, age 85, of Madison, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Heritage Monona. He was born on February 18, 1940, in Madison, Wis., the son of Nels Larsen and Lillian (Paul) Larsen.


Richard graduated from East High School. He was married to Rose (Kane) Larsen. He worked as a plumber for 40 years, retiring in 2002. He loved Midget Auto Racing.


Richard is survived by his wife, Rose; son, David Larsen; nephews, Tim Homberg, Mike Lee and Jay Larsen; nieces, Lorine Nolley, Lynn Wealti and Toni Larsen; stepdaughter, Tami Rogers; step grandchildren, Kelly, William, Tiffany and Taryn; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Delores Homberg; brothers, Arnie Larsen and Laverne "Bud" Larsen; daughter, Kim Larsen; son, Ken Larsen; and nephews, Tom Homberg, Jerry Larsen and Dennis Larsen.

Our prayers for all of Richard’s family as they morn his departure. He was a wonderful person and I’m so glad to have met and worked with him. My dad would take me to see him at the midget races in Sun Prairie. I was only about 7 years old but “Stick” as he was known as by many, let me sit in his race car. Rest in peace my friend and save a spot for me in heaven. Bill Johnson
