Obituary
MADISON - Ronald Lee Schultz, age 92, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Meriter Hospital. He was born on September 16, 1932, in Madison, the son of Harold and Lillian (Norby) Schultz.
Ronald graduated from Central High School in 1950. He married Nancy Schultz on February 19, 1955, in Dubuque, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957.
Ronald became a sheet metal apprentice in April 1950 and completed his apprenticeship in October 1954 while also working at Perkins Sheet Metal. He then entered into active duty in the U.S. Army, and upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Perkins Sheet Metal for many more years. He then worked for General Heating for 18 additional years, retiring in 1994. He was also a proud member of the Sheet Metals Workers Union, Local Union #18, for 73 years and carried his union card in his wallet even after his retirement.
Ronald was an avid fisherman and hunter, always looking forward to his next outdoor excursion. He participated in league bowling on Friday nights at Dream Lanes for countless years and was in a golf league with his work colleagues in Oregon. He took regular trips to Canada to fish and especially cherished the trip he took with his son and grandson. Ronald also had a deep love for labrador retrievers, owning many over the course of his life, and would take them out pheasant and duck hunting.
Ronald is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Lori) Schultz; daughter, Debbie Schultz; grandchildren, David Schultz, Nicole (Matt) Acker and Kimberly (Ben) Lillegard; great-grandchildren, Axel Schultz, Rowan Lillegard, Samantha Acker and Seth Acker, and Will (Becca) Romeis; and great-great-grandchildren, Wyatt Romeis and Owen Romeis. Other survivors include his half-brother, Scott (Kathy) Schultz and his children, Amelia and Alyson; great-niece, Emily Sadie; stepsister, Vicki Elmer and her children, Heidi and Jennifer; and extended family, Barbara Staplemen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Schultz; parents, Lillian and Harold; grandchild, Tonia Schultz; sisters, Donna and Judy; and other family members, Ron, Randy and Perry.
A memorial service will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the cemetery from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
