Obituary

MADISON - Betty Lou Race, age 94, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025. She was born in Racine, Wis., on December 24, 1930, the daughter of Lawrence and Hazel (Newman) Risberg.


Betty graduated high school in Racine in 1949 and was a charter member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Fitchburg. She lived a long life with a wonderful family, dear friends and a community at The Waterford facility.


Betty is survived by her daughter, Susan (Race) Polzin; brother-in-law, John Race (Rita); daughter-in-law, Peggy Race; four grandchildren, Lewis Polzin (Liz), Kathryn Abels (Ryan), Joseph Polzin (Jennie) and Bethany Malone (Joe); and 11 great-grandchildren, Elias Polzin and Ava Polzin; Lorelai Abels, Luke Abels and Leo Abels; Miles Polzin, Frederick Polzin, Jane Polzin and Kate Polzin; and Georgia Malone and James Malone. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; brother, Carl; son, Terry Race; and son-in-law, William Polzin. We eagerly look forward to the resurrection in Christ Jesus, when all things will be made well.


A funeral service will be held at ALL SAINTS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2951 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, Wis., at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025. In lieu of a visitation, a luncheon will be provided at All Saints following the service. Interment to follow at a later time.


Memorial donations may be made to All Saints Lutheran Church.
