Mount Horeb - Lorraine Helen Schlimgen, age 96, of Mount Horeb, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Ingleside Assisted Living in Mount Horeb. She was born on December 30, 1928, in Waunakee, the daughter of Anton and Christine (Spahn) Wipperfurth.
Lorraine married Paul H. Schlimgen on September 15, 1953, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Waunakee. She worked as a telephone operator, grocery store clerk and a household/farm wife.
Sewing, playing bingo and cards, gardening and doing puzzles were some of Lorraine’s favorite pastimes. She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and the Catholic Knights.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Vicki (Bill) Forbes, Dan (Janice) Schlimgen, Diane (Ted) Tilley, Mary (Mike) Segebrecht, Donna (Steve) Handel, Paul (Mary Jo) Schlimgen, Larry (Nancy) Schlimgen, Wayne (Diane Black) Schlimgen and Dale (Noel) Schlimgen; 14 grandchildren, Tina (John), Jennifer (Jeremy), Karen (Matt), Mark, Tedder (Harmony), Wesley (Carlee), Justin, Tonya (Scott), Dylan (Bryanna), Devon (Bri), Alison (Dylan), Brandon (Kristy), Duane (Monica) and Spencer; 23 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, LeRoy Wipperfurth; brothers-in-law, Glenn Schlimgen, Harold Schlimgen and Jerry Schlimgen; and sisters-in-law, Leona (Linus) Rauls, Lucille Kaltenberg and Grace Schlimgen; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Schlimgen; parents, Anton and Christine Wipperfurth; in-laws, John and Anna Schlimgen; daughter-in-law, Pam Schlimgen; brothers, Anthony Wipperfurth and Russell (Betty) Wipperfurth; sisters, Sr. Mary Jane Wipperfurth and Joan (Harry) Statz; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Margie Wipperfurth, Marie (Harland) Lamberty, Helen (Edwin) Laufenberg, Betty Kluesner, Roman Schlimgen, LeRoy (Seraphine) Schlimgen, Jim Kaltenberg, Mary Ann Schlimgen, Agnes Schlimgen and Terri Schlimgen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 109 S. Sixth St., Mount Horeb, at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, with Father Brian Dulli presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday. A private burial will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church Cemetery at a later date.
